Dear AIS family,
Welcome to the new face of AIS! As part of the school’s ongoing development, there have been several changes to our school this year that will have a positive effect on our community. The Community Relations Committee at AIS was established three years ago in order to give recommendations on how to upgrade our communication with the community. The first recommendation that was implemented was that letters sent home should be sent in both English and Arabic. Another recommendation was the establishment of the AIS parent Diwaniya, which was established two years ago. This year, as a response to parental request for more opportunity to get their voices heard we split the diwaniya into High School, Middle School, and Elementary School Diwaniyas. A third recommendation that is now in operation is the introduction of SMS as a new way of informing the school community of school news and events. Moreover, we also did a new school website in order to make it more interactive and user friendly. And finally, the committee’s final recommendation which is the rebranding of AIS, which was launched on Thursday, 23/04/ 2009.
The rebranding of AIS involves changing our logo, business cards and stationary, among other minor changes that reflect the new face of AIS. The new logo involved parents, teachers, students, and ex staff in an opinion poll to choose which new logo echos the AIS spirit. The new logo that was designed by Gates company, adds green as a new color to indicate growth and environmental awareness; the crescent signifies the Islamic culture where AIS resides, the name Kuwait appears in the logo to represent the country where AIS is located and the green dot on top of the I is to stress the international mindedness of our students and our teachers.
I look forward to a new year with all our returning students, and wish the graduating class success in their future.
