ATHLETICS

Athletics at the American International School of Kuwait (AIS) is an integral part of a student’s daily life. AIS’ Athletic Philosophy is an outgrowth of our school’s mission. The program emphasizes excellence, commitment, sportsmanship and the cultivation of the whole person through respect of self and others. An AIS athlete will grow as an individual while learning the values of dedication, teamwork, responsibility and fair play. An AIS athlete should be proud of his or her athletic experience and take forward many valuable lessons.

AIS participates locally in the Kuwait Schools Activities Association (KSAA) which includes the following schools: American School of Kuwait (ASK), Bayan Bilingual School (BBS), American Academy for Girls (AAG), American Creative School (boys and girls- ACA), and Universal American School (UAS). Interscholastic competition among these schools includes: volleyball, soccer, basketball, track & field and badminton. All sports competing in the KSAA have varsity, junior varsity, and U-14 boys and girls teams. In addition, the KSAA offers a middle school sports festival (MSSF) which is open to middle school students. The competition includes: volleyball, basketball and soccer.

AIS also participates internationally in the Eastern Mediterranean Conference (EMAC). Being involved in EMAC allows an AIS athlete to travel to other countries for competition while experiencing different cultures and backgrounds from other teams. It’s a very exciting time for an AIS athlete. The sports include: soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton and middle school sports festival (MSSF). Divisions include: varsity, junior varsity and middle school for MSSF. Schools that participate include: American School of Dubai (ASD), Dubai American Academy (DAA), American Creative School- Abu Dhabi (ACS), American Creative School- Beruit (ACS), American Creative School- Amman (ACS), American School of Doha (ASD), Cairo American College- Cairo (CAC), American School of Kuwait (ASK), Schutz American School (SAS), and American Bilingual Academy-Oman (ABA).

EMAC believes in the development of each student through academic, athletic and artistic/cultural endeavors. The Eastern Mediterranean Conference seeks to create, promote and foster cooperation among its member schools by providing a forum for communication and discussion, by promoting and or sponsoring activities and athletic events, and by seeking to serve as an extension of each member schools’ program to enhance the development of the students, the schools and the organization.

There are many wonderful athletic experiences at AIS and we hope you become apart of the program- Go Lions!
