ACTIVITIES AT AIS

During the year there are school events for the entire student body where all students are able to get together. Mainly these are Nations Day, an opportunity for students to celebrate their home country or heritage and to celebrate the diversity of the school community at AIS, and Carnival Day, an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and for students and their families play together and have some fun.

During different times of the year there are after school or lunch time clubs. These allow students to get involved in board games, academic enrichment, theater, athletics, music, craft activities and at the same time see their teachers in a different role. AIS has become strongly involved in groups that support social causes around the world, like Amnesty International, Leadership Incorporated and environmental groups.

As students get older they are able to become involved in the student-led Model United Nations program that has a strong presence at AIS, and in local schools, as well as traveling yearly to THIMUN in The Hague, Netherlands for an incredible international conference.

Carnival Day

AIS is a long time member of the Eastern Mediterranean Activities Conference or EMAC. Through EMAC, our students are able to take part in a student leadership conference, which will be hosted by AIS in October of 2008, in Forensics, a speech, drama and debate competition, in Junior Varsity and Varsity Academic Games, a competition to find the most knowledgeable and inventive teams, and in Junior and Senior Fine Arts Festivals, a non-competitive festival that bring students together to create works in Drama, Visual Art, Band and Choir.

Every student who wishes to be involved outside of class can find an activity. You just have to find what interests you!
